Designed by DiLullo Associates, Inc. of Melrose
Foxboro, MA - Nauset Construction Corp., based in Newton Lower Falls, Massachusetts, recently completed Mass Premier Courts, New England’s largest year-round indoor basketball facility located at 97 Green Street (Rt. 106), Foxboro on the Foxboro/Mansfield town line.
The 70,000 sf sports complex features six regulation-size basketball courts designed for American Athletic Association (AAU) tournaments, recreation and competitive basketball leagues, and other sports rentals. Mass Premier Courts is available for camps, clinics and sports-theme birthday parties. Strength and conditioning programs designed for the more serious athlete are also offered.
The finishes within Mass Premier Courts are higher-end than most athletic facilities and mirror those of elite collegiate level complexes including indoor viewing windows, ceramic tile in the locker rooms and bathrooms, 13 skylights and 242 parking spaces. “I researched several existing older
facilities with the option of rehabilitating them, but realized that the only way to get the proper layout for the Six Basketball courts and the ‘value’ specific for the sport business was to build a facility from ground up,” said Gregory Marcotte, Developer and CEO of Mass Premier Courts.
“As a first time developer, I needed a construction manager with proven experience and an excellent reputation, Nauset Construction unequivocally met this criteria. Nauset’s high-level of service, network of quality subcontractors and suppliers and tight control of the project made the development of Mass Premier Courts an extremely successful process,” said Gregory Marcotte, Developer and CEO of Mass Premier Courts.
Completed just in time for the 2004-2005 basketball season, this steel framed building features a 4,000 sf concession and lounge area overlooking the courts on the first floor. A large semi-circular staircase leads spectators up to a full length, 8,000 sf mezzanine located in the middle of the structure providing a spectacular view of all court activities. Other amenities include fully outfitted locker rooms, a multi-purpose room and weight training area.
“Mass Premier Courts is a first class facility that has already impressed athletes, coaches, referees and spectators alike. Greg Marcotte and his staff of seasoned professionals were a pleasure to work with and have clearly raised the bar in the indoor sports business,” said Anthony Papantonis, President of Nauset Construction.
Designed by DiLullo Associates, Inc. of Melrose, this state of the art sports complex was constructed with top of the line materials and products. Two of the courts are made of high quality maple wood, similar to the flooring used at the practice facility of the Boston Celtics. The remaining four courts are made of a 14mm "pad and pour" high-end synthetic surface, the best synthetic court available on the market.
Other noteworthy amenities that mirror the same superior quality of a world class athletic facility include Porter Athletic glass backboards and rims, which feature 180 degrees of breakaway capability, a very high lumens lighting system similar to those found in most college and universities, and a highend HVAC system.
Also housed within this sports facility is RBI Baseball Academy, a 13,200 square foot indoor baseball academy with automatic batting machines and batting tunnels that retrieve balls automatically, as well as a pro shop offering a wide selection of baseball and softball equipment. The batting cages allow each player to choose baseball or softball options and automatically select ball speed and height without reconfiguration. The batting tunnels have a pitcher’s mound and adjustable pitching machine. The auto-return batting cage system is unique to the indoor environment and made possible by the construction of a special convex flooring system that helps pool the batted balls. Paul Rappoli owns and operates RBI Baseball Academy, offering baseball and softball camps, clinics and programs that feature such Major League Baseball players as Nomar Garciaparra, Kevin Millar, Trot Nixon and Jason Varitek. Rappoli himself played baseball with the Boston Red Sox organization from 1989 to 1997. Paul Rappoli of
Rappoli Baseball, Inc. has signed a ten-year lease with Mass Premier Courts to locate his RBI Indoor Baseball Academy to the Foxboro facility.
